What I have found with the older necks that I have worked on by G&L, is the nut bottoms out before you reach adjustment. I have seen it on just about all of the 80's G&L bass necks, I've worked on. Because the nut stops turning and the truss rod has not straightened the neck, people would think that the neck is shot. The fix is very simple, or at least on the ones I have worked on. I added a couple of washers under the nut, which allowed for addition turns. The washers I use are a #10 thin wall washer that fits perfectly in the truss rod slot in the neck. If anyone finds that they are in need of any, please let me know. I'll be happy to send you some. Much cheaper than a new neck!
