Beautiful! Didn't realize Maple necks were available back then, but I'm not that hip on Fender specifics... still a great looking bass... although the individual string tuning barrels are a bit strange to me in their positions under the strings... |

Not to make light of your comment about the saddles, Ian, but it reminds me of something funny that happened to me. I visited Ron Carter at his hotel while he was in Rochester once, to install a part on his upright bass. After the install, I told him of some possible concerns that I read online as it was a new product back then. I said, "That there was some concern expressed about intonation with the part." He looks at me and said, "Really! It's a F#%&ing Fretless bass!" His words, not mine. I couldn't stop laughing when he said that so matter of factly. |

I thought the same thing; it's a Fretless bass - throw all norms out the window, so-to-speak! |
