Also on Reverb: https://reverb.com/item/12702515-guild-b-302-1978 I really like the B301/302 series basses; the look may not appeal to everyone but they were a serious attempt by Guild to step out of the Gibson-esque shadow and create a more proprietary long scale bass design. I also think the single coil pickups in these basses were an improvement over the JS basses. As much as I dig the B302, I have an old road worn B301 that was my main player for several years, a great workhorse- that single pickup right in the sweet spot is an absolute tone beast! |

I really like these basses too, though mine's been heavily modified and I'd like to find an unbutchered one (Mine was originally a B-302F fretless and somebody added frets, and added different PUPs). And mines' in the walnut finish. Yours is the nicest finish I've seen in a lefty. I think the price he's asking, given the condition and the mods, is a bit much though. They're also a bit prone to neck dive, IMO, as mine likes to head for the floor. Nice fat neck though. Isn't the bridge PUP on the B-302 in the same position is it is on the B-301? It looks to be based on your photos. Famous players? It seemed some punk players of the late 70's liked them, particularly The Plasmatics and The Damned: Attachment: 97619719.jpg [ 19.74 KiB | Viewed 10592 times ] |

Yeah Peter, the bridge pickup is in the same position on both the 301 & 302- that was just my convoluted way of saying the neck pickup is nice to have, but not essential to getting a great tone. Back in the day, David Goldflies and Derek Holt were company endorsers, which made sense as these were great basses for both band’s styles. I know I’ve seen a few “ name” guys playing them over the years but I can’t recall who?

Damn, a maple necked, ash body, fretless model would be soooo amazing! Wow! |

Here's another one hidden somewhere behind the whipped cream. And a lefty in Richie Stotz for good measure too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2eynNh5xHM |
