What are these "discs" in the body and neck for?

That's for the "tilt" adjustment featured on those 3 bolt necks. One holds the screw and the other supports the tip of the screw, the tighter the screw the bigger is the shim effect  On the body disc you'll see the small space where the screw sits while the center one is used for the screw that holds the body and neck together. At least I think so! |
