Don't know why that seller mentions "long scale" in his description- this is definitely a short scale bass, but very cool nonetheless. I've never seen a slotted headstock EB without a bound fretboard before... indicative of the "special order" origins of these vintage lefty Gibsons. I've heard various stories that back in the 60's- 70's there were guys at the Gibson plant that would build "employee order" lefties and sometimes mark them as '2' and 'BGN' to indicate a cosmetic flaw (not structural) so that they could buy them at a discount... smart . |

Isn't it also strange that the seller calls it a 70 when the pots date it to 71? Just call it what it most likely is! |

The long ones have the bridge much closer to the back edge, don't they? The "short" is 30 1/2" but IIRC I used to fit medium scale strings when I had basses with that scale - been quite a few years since I had any though. |
