It did arrive, so I must have been good enough. Santa must have lowered his standards
Build is underway. Isn't a bolt together and go job. The only supplied instructions are for the wiring.
Neck pocket route too narrow. Pickup routes not long enough. I've corrected those.
Control cover plate not recessed. That's a bitch to cut out since it would best have been routed first before the control cavity.
Body wood is quite coarse with a lot of soft grain gaps. Made of 3 unmatched pieces. Not symmetrical either - 2 pieces below the centre line & 1 above. The top one has really nice swirly grain, the others more linear. Would be stellar if it was one piece like the top - but then I suppose it wouldn't be so cheap! Filling & sanding underway.
Neck seems ok. A little rough on fret ends but it all checks straight and level. Some shallow dings on fingerboard in one place where it looks like it's been clamped by something.
Humbucking soapbar pickups fully wired in screened 4 core if you wanted to do coil tap/series stuff, but there's little room for extra switching so you'd probably need push/pull switch pots - although the body isn't very thick there .
500k lin for volumes and 500k log for tones. 68nF (0.068uF) green drop tone caps. I may use 47nF. The wiring diagram fails to mention the A & B taper pots and which of them is for which job.
Nice jack socket. Is actually a stereo TRS one. I may fit a mono-stereo switch - somewhere.
Bridge & tuners usable.
Horrible plastic nut fitted. I've knocked it out since I'd rather finish the neck before fitting the nut.
Pictures when I've got something to show.
