I would think they would make more money on ebay, reverb but here is a cool bass at Auction. Out of 20 plus basses my 64 P Bass by far is one of the best. Take the allure of Fender basses out of the equation every time I pick up my 64P I realize that it is an amazing bass and why Fender became the choice bass.

Gorgeous rare bass...but

Maybe I don't understand how auction houses work, but what's with this, "25% Buyer's Premium" nonsense? That's a pretty substantial markup from the current listed price. I equate it to sellers who list a low BIN price on ebay, only to mark up shipping to some ridiculous amount. Seems kind of unethical to me. :x

I was poking around the site, seems as if it's a legit auction house with locations in New York, London ect and that once a year they have musical equipment.

auction houses always charge a buyer's premium or some other similar fee. same thing happens in the Antique world. But I do agree 25% is steep.

Just a follow up, I do not believe this bass sold at auction. The web page says the current owner is accepting offers. It had a low starting bid of $6K however there was a 25% fee and I suspect other hidden fees as Professional Auction Houses have a skill to getting the most dollars out of every sale.
