Here's a video he posted of the bass, for what it's worth. Doesn't really sound like a J bass to me anymore with those Alembics in it, but sounds nice in it's own right if you're looking for different flavors:

Wow, you weren't kidding. That bass sounds like it's ready to get into a fight!

I think maybe part of that bristling, heavy tone comes from his light touch and a lot of gain.

Yeah it looks like a two piece alder body. The maple neck looks like it has some nice figuring too. Not a bad starting bid. And located in the U.S. with free shipping, vs high shipping fees on the ones available in Japan Only downside is the weight at 10.5 lbs.
