It needs a graphite neck for maximum blackness. That Rosewood is way too bright.

Are the halves of that splitcoil really wide, or is the string spacing really narrow? There's three strings over each half!

They are wide. I believe they use the same pickups for the 5 string version, hence the width.

I wonder if that influences the tone and the string to string balance in volume, when the middle strings are amplified by both coils rather than just one half.

Interesting. It looks like that MM pickup is also too wide.
