Very nice. What was distinctive about the year 1970 that it warrants it's own specific model though?

If I'm not mistaken, this actually has an ash body as opposed to the shitty basswood they use on the 60s reissues. And of course aesthetically it has the 70s thing going for it (decal, black pickguard).

I just saw that the listing says alder for the body. Not period correct, but still better than basswood. Seems to be a pretty cool bass.

Jeroen I believe said the proper model name of it and as far as I remember he said the body was ash...

There are several versions of this bass out there. There's been a PB70-70US, a PB70-78US, PB70-88US and a PB70-93US. Info is scarce on the web unless you can read Japanese. I believe the difference is in finish, materials and electronics. Alder seems to be the most common.
