I would really love to try out this bass. I really want to know what this bass sounds like with that super-wide pickup spacing.

I would probably put in some actual single-coils if I could find some to fit.

You're right Conley, pickup spacing on these is approx. 3 3/8" so indeed a bit wide. Combined with the original Carvin A500B active electronics these H50B humbucking pickups sound pretty darn good as is, and pump out a broad range of very usable clean tones. Each pickup has a "Bright/ Deep" switch, which seems to have a very similar effect to a coil tap switch- though I'm not sure that they're actually wired for true single coil.

BTW, the finish on that bass on Reverb is "Sapphire Blue Translucent", not "Deep Pearl Blue" as stated in the listing. THIS is what "Deep Pearl Blue" looks like (see below):

I've had this beauty for many years and I've always loved just about everything about it. Thanks to the sleek design, color and gold hardware option, back in the day the guys in the band appropriately dubbed it the "Blue Angel" lol! Will be a sad, sad day to let it go, but if you're interested let me know.

Oh, gosh, I am! I am dying to know what that bass would sound like using the bright/deep switches with a B7K Ultra through my rig (Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 with a Markbass 1×12 :D ). But, I know I shouldn't! That is a great-looking bass, Paulo!

3-3/8" is all the spacing is? Wow. I would have guessed like 5". From the pictures, it looks like you could fit normally-spaced jazz pickups between the Carvin pickups!

EDIT: Oh! I think part of what is throwing me off is that the Carvin has 24 frets, which makes the neck pickup look closer to the neck and therefore farther away from the bridge than on a typical Fender-style jazz.

That bridge pickup still looks really close to the bridge, though. Closer even closer than a '75 jazz.

Carmine! Shit! My bad, buddy! That's not the first time I have mixed up the two of you based on your profile pictures! (Even though Paulo's astronaut picture was two pictures ago.)
