hopefully Carvin will bring it to NAMM if it doesn't sell beforehand. I find it interesting that they have a 'best offer' button on their Reverb page. I wonder what kind of discount they'll offer. |

Ha. Just watched the video on the Reverb page. I've always wondered.......? Is it too much to ask that a bass demo includes some sort of groove that someone who isn't Darryl Williams would play. You know. The sort of eighth note stuff that the vast majority of bassists will actually play 90% of the time. Maybe even something involving how the bass sustains?! We get it. You can make this bass sound super punchy and poppy, funky slap slap. It's a good thing to know...... just not the ONLY thing to know. Guh..... rant over. |

I love the "bass model demonstration" videos that are actually "self-indulgent demonstration of my musically sterile slap and pop skills" videos. |

There's a reason car commercials don't show their cars being driven at 30 MPH in moderately-heavy freeway traffic. |

I'm not a slapper at all, and although I do appreciate his skills, and the slap tone this bass is obviously capable of, the dialed-in jazz tone doesn't do much for me either, as I'm a Blues/Rock player, and as Jayce suggests, I'd like to hear ANY demo bass being played that covers "Smoke On The Water", or "Won't get Fooled again", or any old Songs by Sir Paul, or John Paul Jones... and of course classic Blues like "Crosscut Saw", or "Pride and Joy" for that matter... That's always been my one complaint when attending NAMM shows - that every bass booth with a demo bass player in it, is slapping away like a mofo, or jazzing it up like Jaco... I'm amazed at their skills, but where are the classic rock riffs that I can identify with? Or pounding Blues lines I enjoy? Not flashy enough of course to sell basses I guess, but that would seal more deals for me when looking at basses... OK, now MY rant is over.... |
