Nice bass, though I'm not familiar with this type of auction on Ebay. 91% seller rating.

Headstock/neck refinish? Finish has that blotchy look of a refinish.

Another questionable string spacing/bridge issue? Without seeing what's going on under the ashtray I can't tell if there's an issue or not, but first of all it's righty strung and look at the string spacing between the A to D strings vs. E to A and D to G.

First for me, too. I can't imagine that it's going to work in the seller's favor. People are busy, and he's cutting his potential market way down by limiting the auction to a few minutes on a Saturday afternoon.

I added to my watch list so I can see how it turns out.

Total Michael Strahan thing going on.

Ha Ha Ha. Good one Tim!

Can't see if there is a hole in the horn for a right handed strap. Just one of many possible questions.

NOTE 18% Buyers

The neck does not look right. I would like the seller to remove the neck and show the pocket and the heel. If you can get it cheap enough and it is original it is probably fixable.

I was curious about the auction so I clicked the link. Three pages of basses and other gear going on the block. This is the only lefty that I noticed.

So risky to be sure. But also the possibility of a nice bargain.

I'm tempted to offer up a below-my-pain-threshold bid just for the ha-has. But I'll be in the mountains on Saturday and don't really feel like watching my phone.

You can leave an advanced bid called an absentee bid. It's common practice for most auction houses. It's like leaving a maximum Ebay bid.

Another thing to consider is there is no predetermined shipping price quoted. After you get the winning bid and pay the bill including the 18% buyers premium. The bass will be packed by the shipping company and then you will receive a bill for the shipping. There was at lease one negative feedback complaining about high cost of shipping and a couple for long delivery time.I believe it is an independent company and you would be at their mercy after purchase.

Lets do the math - if the winning bid is $1850 for example, and 18% is added on, that's $330, so you're up to $2183. And let's say shipping is $150 (and it could get easily higher than that).... total would be $2333. Any winning bid over 2-grand puts the bass around $2500 and higher. Is a '78 Jazz, not in perfect condition, worth that much?

Nope. But, this is a color you don't see very often on a '78Jazz. If it has major neck issues or something like that, you're looking at a money pit.

That's why I did the math, and don't think it would be worth the risk if it goes over $2000, or more, without more pics we all want - neck pocket, bridge, pots, etc....

It went for 1550. I thought that was a decent price if it is original.

Did someone on here buy it? I would be interested in seeing the heel and pocket in pix.
