WOW, that's a nice one. Does anyone know what the Model Number is, I get confused if they had the "C64" series back then.

That's a good ol' 4001s. The C64 series didn't come out until much later. Either the C64 or C64S would have a toaster in the neck and the bridge pickup would have big shiny pole pieces. The C64S is also immediately recognizable as the edges of the horns are rounded off.

EDIT: Holy Moses! This bass has a set-neck! You don't see many of these!

In the description the seller notes that it was used by a "Righty" who was in Beatlemania.

Just out of curiosity, what makes it a "unicorn"? My 4001 is also a 78, and is a set neck as well. Are the newer ones bolt on?

Ah, the way SHD was going on, I thought it was something a bit more rare, haha. Seemed pretty special/hard to find! :?

4001/4003 basses have always been neck-through. RIC made some set-neck 4001 basses in the 70s (maybe into the 80s as well, but by this time the 4001 was being phased out in favor of the 4003). The '79 4001 I had is a neck-through, by comparison.

There just weren't nearly as many set-necks made as there have been neck-throughs is all, so it adds to the rarity of it when already there aren't too many lefty Ricks floating around of this age.

It looks as if the owner posted again at a lower starting bid $2195.
