6 to 12 to be built so if you're on the hunt for one of those, get a hold of Jim! (I think that's his name!)

Bad time to be light on funds.

Oh man.... oh man ....

Do we know anything about these pickups? Are they straight single-coils?

Are the bodies made of Alder?

Cool. More stuff that is several hundred bucks higher than anywhere else you can get it. Still, it would be cool to have a fiver Jazz.

I talked with Jim and he'd take the $100 deposit to see if he can push through an order that included red Jag basses as well. It sounds like it's not a given, but the $100 is fully refundable if it doesn't happen. Might be worth a shot... I'm stewing on it... basses wouldn't come in until late 2016/early 2017 anyway...

That's pretty quick production and delivery, really.

It looks like it has closer to 70s pickup positioning. I wish I could justify this. I doubt it would sound much different than my G&L MJ-4, anyway.

So does that means that the Fender Japanese factory is still working?
I saw here somewhere on the board someone saying that they would not manufacture Japanese Fenders anymore...?

Don't quote me on this, but the way I remember it going down is that Fender Japan WAS operating as an independent entity under the Fender umbrella. They made Fender stuff to Fender specs, but they mostly ran the show.

Fender USA then basically absorbed Fender Japan, so, even though Fender still does manufacturing there, all major decisions come from corporate headquarters in the USA.

I think speculation at the time that they were going to kill off all MIJ models or move them to Mexico, but it doesn't look like that's happened... too popular, I guess.

These used to be in regular production in Japan. I've been using one for a few years now. I reviewed it here in case anyone is interested in Southpaw's run: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=312

I'd be more interested in a 5-string... is $1399 a fair value? Is Fender USA even making a lefty 5'ver these days?
