has some quite unusual concepts - like the pickups - and what looks like an awfully high action but nonetheless... http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-LEFT-HANDE ... SwxehXOnv7 |

Maybe it's because I've got a few beers in me and start my vacation tonight and am thus prone to positivity, but I dig it, warts and all. Even that tribal thing that reminds me of my wife's lower back. (Just kidding. Her lumbar tat is a manta ray.) |

Well, what is it - early 80s or 74-75. I'd assume 74-75. It is kinda cool. Non-original tuners and all. pete |

That is an SB61 which Carvin only produced for one year 1976. That it is a lefty makes it a rare bird indeed! http://www.carvinmuseum.com/decade/images/76-sb61.html |

I think it's a '74-75 as the auction stated (why they state early 80's in the body of the auction is beyond me). The pickguard is consistent with the earlier SB60 model, the bridge PUP cover doesn't cover the bridge PUP completely as it does on the SB61, and the bridge is closer to the bridge PUP than it is on the SB61. I'm referring to the pix on the Carvin Museum website for comparison. BTW, Hofner was making necks for them at the time, which I didn't know. At any rate, a very cool rare bass. I've never seen a lefty before. |
