It looks to me like a parts bass with a Kramer neck.

Agreed. I'm really into these aluminum Kramers. (I have a DMZ 4000 that I love and just about enough parts to build a second one - hopefully in an eight string format - sometime soon.) I've spent hours and hours researching the history of these and this isn't a model that was ever produced. While it does look like they were going for the horn section of an XL24 model with a very modified body end section it's way out of line with anything normal. I have to say though, they did a very nice job of matching the curve and shape of the neck pocket on the back.

Other reasons it ain't a Kramer body:
1) They never did a fancy top. (Well, maybe a couple, but they weren't that thick.)
2) The wood veneers in the back of the neck would have matched the back of the body exactly. (Not just almost, kinda, sorta...)
3) The control plate and neck bolt cover plate would both be made of polished aluminum.

This is still a cool bass IMO but still a little overpriced. I know it ain't like there's a black book for something so odd but I would want to pay under a grand for sure.
