Yes it's expensive and rather heavy, but check out the top:

The also had a nice 4 string LB20, I never had a Carvin bass but I have heard nothing but very good reviews about them.
Does anyone have any first hand knowledge on Carvin basses?

That Vanquish must have just come off of the production line. I was trolling Carvin last week and it wasn't there at the time. I do have some serious G.A.S. for a Vanquish fless and keep hoping one will show up on the site.

IMHO Carvin quality has come up a few notches in the last 3 or so years. Resale value on them still suck tho! :-)

I have a Carvin LB 70 which is like the LB 20 except w active/passive electronics. It's a great sounding bass - I get many complements on it. Resale is not good but if you like it you keep it and have a nice bass.
This is a jam I recorded with the LB 70 no amp effects or any other effects recorded in Garageband:

I still have my Icon 5 which I absolutely love. I have to say, dollar for dollar it competes very well with basses costing more than twice as much. I would buy another one of I was shopping for another bass. Although my next plan is to do a build using some wood I've saved up and a Carvin 5 string neck. I'm also still planning on doing s couple of small upgrades on the cosmetic side wit the bass. Film at 11.
