Is this a killer deal, or are old Japan basses not highly-regarded? It looks to be in really good shape, and the seller does not say that it is a reissue. I can't read the serial number.

There has to be a catch.

I will be in Dallas next Friday. If it's still available (which I have to believe is next to impossible if everything stacks up) it may be hard to pass up at that price (although it will end up being $600 after all of Frontier's damned bag fees).

Of course, that's assuming Matt (Mr. Jazz Bass himself) doesn't get to it first. He just got a jazz yesterday, but I doubt that has stopped him in the past .

That's a good deal, but not a too-good-to-be-true deal. If it's available, in good playing shape and you're into it, you should snag it.

My biggest hesitation is that I have been trying to hold out for quite some for a good deal on a red Aerodyne Jazz. I think they are gorgeous, and I would like to see what the PJ combination is like.

That's a very good deal if everything checks out as advertised and you want/need a nice Jazz Bass. I really like all the Fender Japan reissues I own. I don't think you'd have any problem reselling it again for that price if and when your red Aerodyne comes along, but you may find that you really like it. Doesn't look like a case is included, so depending on what size luggage you have, could you consider detaching the neck and fitting it into your suitcase?

Guys, I live in Dallas and I have seen this bass on CL for the past 3-4 weeks. He started at $650 I believe.

It IS a reissue, early 90s if I remember well. Last week I offered $400 that he didn't take so I passed, but pretty sure you could get it for $450.

Thanks for the information, Yolly! I guess that's two beers I owe you, now!

No prob :)
That being said, Japanese reissues have a good reputation and if someone nags it for $450 it is a good deal...
