When I was a kid my local music store had a honeyburst fretless Stingray for a while. Such a beautiful bass. Whenever I think about getting a fretless, that's the bass I picture in my head.

Didn't Pino Palladino play a fretless 'Ray on those early Paul Young records? Amazing tone he had.

Yup... a lot of the old Gary Numan stuff as well.

Check out the "I, Assassin" album.

Pino's fretless tone is by far my favorite fretless tone. I happen to think that EBMM Stingrays don't sound as nice as pre-EB Musicman unfortunately. If Ernie Ball was to make the Classic in lefty I'd definitely get one.

I agree but at least EBMM Stingrays can be modded to be very close to pre-EB Stingrays in tone.
