Yeah that rear control plate is weird. And looking again, I can't be sure that's a wenge fingerboard. Looks dark like ebony, in which case it wouldn't be mine after all. |

I'm not sure if they've ever made fretless basses with wenge fingerboards, Matt... unless someone pulled the frets from a fretted neck with the one you had? |

Yeah I had the frets removed and maple veneer inserted in the slots. It also had the epoxy treatment. It was a sweet bass. This one looks like it has a coating on the fingerboard, but I could be wrong. Also, I'm second guessing my memory of the fingerboard wood. Did they do ebony on fretted models in '96 I wonder? |

Matt, that neck sure looks like Wenge to me... I have Wenge stringers on my custom, and it looks just like that, with the same grain-gaps that this neck exhibits.... I'm saying Wenge! |
