Thanks to jersey bluesdude, andrew and matt..... Weight: 9lbs 8oz. I won it. It's a 5 Jan 73 B (neck stamp) 42 years old It's got the green "Special" stamp above the J Torres stamp Neck is meaty and full of tone. I LOVE these old 1 piece necks Original tuners and still turn freely.. little rust + string guide Original strap pins/screws Original neck plate (F + Serial) and bolts/bushing Original bridge with a replacement G string screw - non noted are not original Body is a little beat up and wear marks in a good mojo way. Lot's of play wear and sweat marks wearing thru finish on the G side of the fret area of the neck and some small finish checks on the fingerboard. Back of neck is in great shape for the age. This baby was a players bass.. A good thing. I believe its Alder, not ash. Original finish I also believe. Original early 70's Fender P bass case all intact with true lefty orientation (been looking for one of these forever) It's got a USA Original Fender P Bass Pickup replacement pickup that sounds pretty darn good and quiet. New Pots and jack. truss rod moves smoothly. I spent 3+ hours on it last night tearing apart, cleaning up and reassembling and new strings. A few high frets (easy fix) but with a little TLC this is going to be a great player and sounds like a bass when played acoustically. Loud!! Here are a few shots after I cleaned it up and inspected. I think the deal went well and I purchased an old Jazz bass from the same seller 5 years ago. It made this painless.

Really awesome looking bass. Cpngrats! How strange seeing all those names stamped in the neck pocket. Looks like they got the whole building to work on that one. |

Somebody might have started it in the factory, let it sit for an order then others finished. All in all, with my setup it's a badass player. I am not even a 4 string guy but the neck is just killer. No regrets on this auction. |

What's with the little brown dot on the back of the headstock? My '69 P has a brown dot in the exact same spot. |
