Sweet baby Jesus. I know this has been discussed to death (at Talkbass) but I just can't see how that bass is worth $5000. It's a bolt-on Fender, no fancy top, no laminations, no artful inlays, no multi-piece neck, no exotic materials (bird's eye maple is not a super expensive wood) . . . Did the master builder cut the body with an exacto to make it so valuable?

Even if they are not using CNC machines and doing -everything- by hand, there's just no way there is $5000 worth of bass there, or $4K, or $3K. . .

2014??? I'd rather give five-grand towards a Sadowsky, Lakland, F Bass, Regenerate, etc.....

Other than the birdseye neck and nitro finish, my ADE precision is identical to that and was $1600.

Same color, same pickguard... that bass even has the more modern flatter 9.5" radius, which is weird.

I'm sure the fretwork and stuff is insanely good on that bass, but not another $3400 good.

I am COMPLETELY happy with my ADE bass... I can't imagine how it could get any better.
