I have a 1988-ish SB-1, and it is nice. Very hot pickups, sustain for days. I have the smaller, J-neck (I bought it used, so I don't know exactly #6 neck or whatnot). Great workmanship, very tight, solid bass. Mine: [img][/img] |

I used to own that bass, about 20 years ago. That body was custom ordered by the original owner. I had toe original paperwork for it until around 2008, when it was last sold. I contacted the buyer and sent it to him, so the seller might be the same guy and still have it. |

I love the look of this one. They are awesome basses but the pickups are so hot i heard several people saying they blew their amp rig with it. It is probably a good idea to replace them by more traditional pickups |

...or to just keep your preamp gain down a bit compared to using other basses, I suppose? I had an SB-2 with the same MFD splitcoil and yes, it is incredibly loud, but very manageable. With the volume on the bass at 8 you're at regular P-bass output. |
