http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... ink:top:en Seems a bit cheap for it to be a real 69. |

Sure seems to be. The grain on that headstock is beautiful too. |

It looks like it was played upside down as a righty (strap pin, string orientation). The description is lacking, making it all the more suspicious. (The serial number is there but no pictures confirming.) I'm not going to ping the seller because I don't want to be tempted. Boy, looking at this one certainly reminds me of my 66 P bass - it was that clean when I bought it 14 years ago. It has since been played many a time on the road and shows it! |

I e-mailed the seller and he replied that it is an original 1969 P bass. I may need to grab this! |

The scoop of the back is too intense for a 69 IMHO. I owe the same bass AND a Jazz 62 and they are not as scooped in the back !!! May be the pic angle but... |

Is the headstock sanded? Why would someone do that? Does this seem suspicious to anyone else? Matt R.- my son was watching Bugs Bunny last weekend and I chuckled a little when I heard in the background "Penguins is practically chickens..." |

Headstock doesn't look sanded. And yeah, there's nothing like Looney Tunes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKOM_GzK1DI |

I'm sure it is not all original from 1969 to me anyway. I do have a refinished 69 and a real J62 to base my opinion on. And worst, it is strung right way |

Looks like a parts bass to me, with some '69 elements and others not. Fender logo design is earlier than '69. Should have been a TV logo font design by that point unless it's an older neck. If it's an older neck, however, then I'd expect to see a strap button on the back of the headstock. So this is kind of a mish mosh of different time frames makes me think the neck's not original. Bridge looks later too. Prior to 1970, bridges had threaded saddles. These look like later barrel saddles from what I can gather from the pictures. Regardless, I'd like to see the heel markings/stamping, pots, body date, etc. before feeling comfortable bidding on it. |

isn't that the picture of the scam-bass? "don't bid before you send money to this dubious bank account" |

No. That was a jazz bass. |
