And sold.

To michael_atw.

He's a very active reseller of Fender parts.

Prediction - you'll soon see the neck and the body up for sale - for outrageous prices - and he'll imply that those parts could be from pre-1976.

Just a guess.

Brotherman, we've gotta show you how to cut and paste:

Assuming you're on a PC...

Point at the URL (the web address)

Left click - that should highlight the whole address.

Right click - that brings up a sub-menu (make sure you haven't moved the cursor, it has to be pointing on the highlighted area for the proper sub menu to pop up.)

Select "Copy" and left click

Now, place the cursor whereever you want to put the address. Left click to mark the spot then Right click, select "Paste" with a left click, hit enter and there, my friend, you should have a hyperlink.

That's earlier than 76. I would call it 75. Damn..... That was a good price.... :?

EDIT.... Just noticed the 3 bolt neck. That's a rare transition bass. When the 3 bolt were introduced on the lefties, the headstock logo decals were changed and the Fender logo was immediately moved to the tip below the G string. Damn........

OR..... The neck is older on a '76 body and someone drilled a single hole to accommodate the neck. Booo!!!!

Marc40a thanks for the tutorial. If only i'd spent the last 47 years boning up on my pc skills instead of playing that stupid bass guitar. Will continue to spot and post finds for my lefty buds and those of you who are tech savvy please continue to enhance postings as you see fit. Thanks.

I have seen this many times, folks post left handed basses but do not have Left Handed or Lefty in the title and it does not get many views. Very nice win for someone!

We should all send him messages... this is what I sent that asshat:

"Hey Mike - there's a entire population of left-handed bassists that want to let you know that you're a fucking idiot for buying perfectly good instruments and parting them out. You're destroying good basses that are hard to find, asshole."

Well I guess if you buy something it's yours to do with as you please but it still seems kind of douchey to do to that bass...but I didn't buy it, but I would buy any of those parts just on principle.

So, if you were to buy all of these parts separately, and put them all back together to have a complete lefty bass again - it would cost you $3109.94.... plus $56.50 in Con/US shipping fees, for a grand total of.... only $3166.44!

So we now we have to - possibly - feel obligated to buy lefty basses, to keep them out of the hands of opportunists like this guy... swell!

The problem I have with this guy over and above the lefty bass is that he's buying a ton of vintage guitars and destroying them.... most of his products are destroyed vintage instruments.
Sure, it's his "products" to do with but it's just not cool. It's not like a neck went crooked. I'm actually looking for a three-bolt body but not like this. I wish we could collectively get the word out about this asshole.

And this was his response to me (classy):

"WahhhHHHHHHHhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Call out the WAHHHHHMMMMBULLANNNCEEEEEE!

I hate these type of sellers as much as you guys do, because I also hate to see random vintage Fender parts for sale that I know once belonged to a whole bass. But on the other hand, the bass was for sale on an open market at a fair price. . . if you guy care so much, why didn't you bid on it? ;)

And as douchey as this guy appears and might be, his "greed" is nothing more than trying to make a living. Although he definitely doesn't know the market. You know how long is going to take him to sell those parts? The regular (righty) vintage parts world is active and well, but lefty parts. . . He might not understand that people who buy parts is to complete projects, but there are no vintage lefty parts in the market to begin with, and I'd say than all of the vintage Fender lefty buyers are looking for whole basses rather than parts.

Anyhow. We all learned a lesson. I propose we create the STLBA, Save That Lefty Bass Alliance, and make sure no other lefty vintage Fender falls into the hands of unscrupulous dealers. :P

When I become rich and famous I intend to do exactly that - create a lefty market to keep these works of art out of the hands of turds like this.

Wow I wasn't particularly thrilled about it but like I said he bought it not me. Didn’t raise much of an eyebrow just seemed a shame to dismantle a vintage instrument. Personally I would rather have a new Jazz every day of the week than an old one and actually I don’t want one at all so any love loss there except for other members. Best Fender I ever played is my new Mike Lull.

But I think I’m OK with staying away from someone like this forever. I thought the response would be more of a hay look I took advantage and nobody else did but looks if there is a part you could use PM me and we can work something out blah blah… But above quote I think sums up my feelings for him now for sure. He was attacked pretty hard though but it looks as if it was justified.
