Hi guys, I know some have been asking about a 70's P bass, I saw this and wanted to share, not a bad deal for the price.

I think it would fit the budget for those seeking for a 70'sP. I love the PJ configuration also, the bass sound is a bit smoother in general if needed.

This bass is also advertised for sale in the Talkbass classifieds, with a link to a photo album with more photos than in the CL ad. The body has huge non-stock routs under the pickguard, most likely it has at some point had the "billy sheehan" mod done to it (an added neck humbucker etc). 1500$ for a bass that would need extensive work to restore it back to stock, IMO that's too much. I'd say pass.

I talked to the seller today....yep - its got some mods BUT what makes this a pretty good deal is that the neck is a an A neck - i thought it looked thin so I asked the seller for a measurement...its a 1.5 at the nut...
super rare in lefty rosewood unless it was from a jazz of the same era and frankenbassed....
if i didnt already own a 73 P with an A neck i'd grab this in a ny minute...or at least a NE PA minute...

I also have a '73 with an A neck, and it's my main bass, and probably the best-sounding bass ever (I have a Dimarzio P in it). And finding another one is on top of my list, but that one is just a bit too off.

That awful routing job it's, well, really awful, and I wonder if it affects the sound in a negative way. Also, the truss rod nut is pushed in pretty deep, which tells me that the neck probably won't adjust well or get straighten. Although an A neck P-bass neck WITH rosewood fretboard is just so darn rare. . .

$1500 is a lot of money for such a hack job, I think. Maybe if I could have it in my hands before buying. I found one in eBay not too long ago, and it looked a lot better than this one, but it was a total disaster when I received it. . .

Sorry to be so negative, but these basses are such a gamble.
