That has to be a Warmoth neck AND body... there's no way a 5-string Warmoth neck would fit on a Fender 4-banger body.

Looks cool though.

Perhaps a lefty Fender 5 string body from Japan?

I thought about that too... but with the Bad Ass V bridge on there and the EMG pickups that fit perfectly in the routes... it just seems like the body was custom ordered.

Not only that, but would a Warmoth 5-string neck even fit on a MIJ Fender 5 body?

I've heard the string spacing on those basses is insanely tight, so I doubt the neck pocket would be a perfect match.

I dunno... my gut is still telling me it's a Warmoth body.

I contacted the seller to ask him a few questions. In his words, it was a "project bass". The body is actually a MIM four string body that has been modified by a professional luthier with 25 years experience. You can actually see this in the fifth photo. If you look down at the neck pocket you can see that the neck hangs over the edge just slightly on either side. The pocket itself might still be a good fit but it's hard to tell without seeing it with the pickguard removed. The pickups routs were extended as well and the luthier did the battery box rout and string through mod to go with the Badass V.

All a little wacky but it still looks like a pretty good job to me. There's certainly $790 worth of neck and parts in that bass. Even if you wanted to buy a Warmoth body somewhere down the road. That's my two cents.

Not a bad bass (I like that neck) but the only bummer is I don't think the neck holes will align up with anything but that body. Your pretty much stuck with that.
