This one has me scratching my head. Seller says it's "original" fretless (and ebony fingerboard), but unless the fingerboard has been replaced, that's not a Fender neck. Still looks nice anyhow. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEAR-MINT-FENDE ... 500wt_1275 |

My guess is some luthier pulled the board and put on an ebony board. The neck looks legit (shape, serial, etc). To my knowledge Fender never made and MIM lefty fretless and if so, the righties I have seen were lined fretless. < insert scratch head here > |

That's a nice looking bass though, and considering the work that went into making it fretless, it seems like a decent price, if it doesn't go much higher.... |

Looks nice indeed. And I agree, it must be a custom job. Fender only makes a lefty fretless MIJ '62 reissue (without a pickguard, Jaco style) which is officially not for sale outside of Japan. Whoever did this did a nice job! The neck needs some aligning though, and that nut has odd spacing (not very consistent). That's definitely no factory nut from Fender |

I noticed that too but exhausted mentioning here. Notice how thick the fingerboard is and how the ebony tapers at the headstock (angled pic)..... Not sure I would take the chance on this one..... A fretless board should be perfect and if not, will play like crap!!!! |
