...with a rosewood fingerboard! I have never seen a Roadster with a rosewood fingerboard. Must be a modification? http://www.zikinf.com/annonces/dispanno ... nce=749356 |

It must be. The smaller dots at the 24th fret look weird, too. |

the fingerboard has been changed by a luthier, instead of the original mapple. here is the explanation, in French : http://forum.onlybass.com/index.php?/topic/66050-ibanez-roadster-1979/ that's a nice bass I would have bought in other circontances. |

The explanation doesn't make things better: it says the original ebony fingerboard was changed to rosewood. But these things never came with an ebony fingerboard either! The necks were all maple. Edit: oh, when I follow the link in that post there's a different explanation: the previous owner had the maple board changed to rosewood. So there has never been an ebony fingerboard on this bass. Man, I love that colour. I like it much better than the sunburst finish on mine. |

You've got the answer now ! And yes, that's a nice bass, maybe a bit heavy. |

Yes, Roadsters are very heavy! Mine is the heaviest bass I own. But it has a great Precision-like feel and sounds amazing, and amazingly versatile. |

wow! Very nice find Jeroen! On my wanted list!!! With that replaced custom fingerboard I would prefer test driving it. To bad its a longgg drive to Lion to test it. The neck is done by a luthier right? It's not a later Ibanez made neck? Guess Maple would be nicer aswell/anyway. hmmm...... |

Another lefty Ibanez thad underwent some drastic surgery... A Blazer that had its pickguard removed, a second splitcoil pickup installed, and its jack moved from the pickguard to the side of the body to accommodate an extra volume pot. Poor bass http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-Blazer ... 2ebbe2ad3e |

I can ask if you're interested. |
