I love rickenbackers but they have become the most overpriced basses on this here planet.

Look at the other pix in the auction, particularly the back of the bass closeup shot. The blue's lighter. Looks Azureglo to me.

The new midnight finish is gorgeous though. I had a righty 4003 here a few months ago that I bought on closeout from Musicians Friend for $1100 and flipped on ebay.

Is this for real? Is that anywhere close to an accurate figure, or is this guy dreaming of dollar signs by way the McCartney association?

I just want to shake people by the shoulders when I see stuff like this and say "You won't sound like Paul McCartney because you own this. You won't sound like Hendrix if you own a 1968 Strat and flip it upside down. They could have played anything and still sounded like Paul & Jimi because that's who they were. You need to sound like YOU!"

The same equipment doesn't make you a clone, however much the instrument sellers have always tried to convince people otherwise...

What ever happened to originality, dedication, and a pinch of creativity?
I guess I'd make a terrible businessman.
