Common on, folks, this is a 1967 Gibson Thunderbird non-reverse lefty! Show me another.
I wonder what they're asking for it? I'm too afraid to ask.

I can't show you another, it's the only one. Apparently a single reverse and a single non-reverse were made, and that's it. I think this bass went through Route 66 many years ago. It's really beautiful.

I contacted the seller. This is what he said:

Thanks for asking about the 1967 Lefty Gibson Thunderbird Bass. The price on this super rare bird is $15,000.00 (USD) plus shipping and handling. The bass does not come with its original hard case.

Pics coming... WOW, $15,000 ain't pocket change, that's for sure. My entire collection including my Wals is not even that much.. Well, maybe a little more :?

About 10-15 years ago, a lefty T-Bird showed up in Vintage Guitar mag for $3500. I'd have to assume it was this one, but even if it wasn't, the price would be consistant for what this one would have gotten back then. I'd expect it will be a hell of a lot more today. As for comments, I have to tell you I personally don't like the look of the non-reverse T-Bird. I love the reverse one, even though I know it can't possibly balance properly. Also, there's a point where the player in me tells the wannabe collector in me to shut the hell up and play the basses that feel and sound the best, even if nobody's going to say "Wow, look at that kickass bass he's playing!" Which, if it were me in the audience saying that, I would be commenting on a Rickenbacker, a Jazz bass, or possibly a reverse T-Bird.

Amen to danomite64... If it does not sound or play well, what's the point of collecting. Eye candy is overrated... It will sit in the case for a lifetime. I have collectables but all sound fantastic and actually get played here and there for recording or pleasure. Did I mention Wal's Rule?
