I contacted the seller as soon as that was listed. He is local to me. I am VERY interested to see what these are all about. I'll relay the info after the meeting... for what its worth. If it were 5 string and lined, I would be selling a liver.

IMHO, the lines just get in the way on a fretless. YMMV.

I played this bass today. It is a serious piece of work. I have a lot of thinking to do... Rob Allen does great work and Jerry is a great guy for letting me into his home and playing this bass. Effortless and. Really like lines. I was playing in pitch quitecwell without them.

You're right.

I have a lined MB2 5 strings but still it is the easiest fretless I've ever played. I guess it has to do with the nylon strings imo and the shape of the neck.

Neck is very similar to the Sadowsky NYC I have in the for sale forum btw ; ;)

Thx for the offer Sly... :) I had a Carvin AC40 that I tok in and restored. I got that bass playing killer. I miss it. It had the same vibe as the RA I played yesterday. The nylon strings are nice on these and mwahh for days. The only thing I would have changed is lower the action at the bridge. I know why Rob does it higher for string vibration but I prefer my fretless' a little lower to the board. Great bass!!

Does it have the Mouwhaaaa factor?

When I tried for the first time 2 RA at Club Bass, there was one in maple and the other one was mahogany. It was the first time I could hear the difference between woods because of I could compare the same bass with the exact same PU but 2 different kind of wood.

I decided on the mahogany body because it was closer to an upright then the maple which was very fretless sounding and wasn't what I was looking for.

I should say that my next gas is a fretted RA !!!!

Who has one ????

This bass is a good one. Mwahhhh sustained out very well. Good bass. Sounds like an upright playing at the neck position. Back at the bridge it got very tight. Good bass.

Did I mention how easy it was to play? :D

I've been blown away by every RA Mouse I've heard. So smooth and organic sounding and really capture the upright vibe. But how do the MB-2s compare tonally?
