I went afk for a minute, the bass jumped from $820 to $1625 in a heartbeat. Still not a bad deal for who ever got it

It was me. Saw it was going pretty low, and decided to throw in the last second bid, and...oops- I've just bought a Bass! But, I'd been wanting a late 70's Jazz, and as you say, not a bad deal at all. Just arrived on Saturday. Nice that it has the original case- worn but fully functional. Overall physical condition of the bass is unaltered and very good-will clean up very nicely!! Neck is lovely, nice and straight and little to no fretwear to speak of. Haven't weighed it yet, but it ain't light- I'm gonna guess minimum 10 lbs, probably a bit more. Plugged it in and the electronics were DOA. Turns out that little broken toggle is an EMG PA2 Preamp Booster which had gone bad. Got out the soldering iron and rewired that out of the signal chain, and now the active EMGs are working just fine. If you're a big fan of EMGs then it sounds exactly like you'd expect- you'd love it. Very clean tone, would be great for studio use, but a bit too sterile for my tastes. I will be looking to restore the bass to original 1979 specs as soon as I find the parts. Damn, I wish the owner had hung onto those original electronics!

Will post pics and update once I have a chance to get everything cleaned up and set up.

Thanks! I'm feeling very good about it. Trying to determine market value for a 70's Lefty Fender Jazz is a fools game anymore, and obviously the non-original electronics held the price down. But given that the bass is physically about an 8 of 10, and fully restorable, I really didn't think my bid was going to be a winner.

Now then...who has some late 70's Jazz pickups and pots they want to part with? :)
