I have one of these, one of the early ones with the Bartolini pickups. They're great. easily the best low B I have though I mainly play 4s. I got it to explore playing more chordally in a trio. I tune mine like a guitar but with a low B, so no rethinking required I can play chords as I know them on guitar.

The preamp on it is "bartolini" designed, it is a Mightmite preamp, and works backwords, i.e. the blend pot turns toward the neck pickup to get the bridge pickup and vice versa. Have a bartolini preamp I would like to install but haven't had time to do it, will add some switching to pickups to get more tones out of it but the action is great and the tone is great.
I like it a lot but don't use it live much as I played in a soul band which wanted to look a bit more old school.
