http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/msg/2145937653.html Not the best era of fender instruments and kinda pricey but it is nice to see a maple neck. |

The one thing I do like about the 80's era Ps are the return to the huge chunky C profile. |

I'll just never get it. Don't understand the hype with 1980's basses. I can understand some like 70's jazz basses, but this bass looks like hell, not even in the cool attractive way. |

It looks just like my first 'real' bass (mine was an '83). Very classy looking, but that neck was very uncomfortable to me. Also, I had 2 of them, and they weren't good sounding basses. I also had a '76 Precision that I got used, and it kicked butt, so I know it wasn't my amp (or me) that was the problem. Still, I'd love to have one if only for nostalgia's sake. |

It's a toss up, but I think I'd rather have the dresser...... that's some good looking wood on those drawers! |

I will say that the early 80's instruments that Fender offered at the time when they were still under CBS ownership were (and still are, IMO) some of the best basses Fender ever produced. I'm specifically referring the to Elite Series as well as the earlier Precision Special. Attachment: 1983-Fender-Precision-Bass-Elite-II-Walnut-big.jpg [ 66.5 KiB | Viewed 4961 times ] |

When I was first learning how to play in the early 80s, nobody would ever have believed that 70s Fender anything would be desirable, let alone command the prices they do today. Probably it's the same for 80s Fenders for people from the next generation. And so on. And so on... |

They made quite a few lefties, but I've only seen black finish with maple neck. Now that I think about it, I haven't encountered one for sale in ages. People must be hanging on to them! |
