- "Neck will be removed and pieces individually wrapped and packed in same box for shipping." No, don't do it! Does anyone really ship a bass by disassembling It? Don't think I'd want it done. I think he's starting a bit too high on the opening bid, but will put a watch on it to see what happens... |

I still find it odd that in the USA it seems you'll only find these amber-coloured MIK ATK's lefthanded, whereas here in Europe you'll mostly encounter MIJ ATK's in trans black lefthanded, and occasionally a MIK, but even those are trans black! |

Lets see, Ibanez marketers are sitting around in the Autumn months, thinking what color for a left hand bass would sell best in North America, and one of them realizes it's getting close to Halloween in the US. What are the favorite colors of Halloween? Black and Orange. Kids love Oranges, and the little candy-corns, that are Orange and White, so, what if we go with Orange for the US? Agreed they say. Now, what about Europe, someone asks. What is one of the most prominent features of Europe, someone says. After tossing around different color features. Blue Danube, Red Sea (OK, this guy doesn't really know his geography), etc., someone says, what about the Black Forests of Europe. That's been a part of the peoples of Europe for thousands of generations. Alright!, they say, it's settled. Amber-Orange for the pumpkin eaters of the US, and North America, and Trans-Black for the countries of Europe. See that wasn't so hard. Get a note off to production! And there you have it, the inside scoop! Or, my coffee hasn't fully taken effect yet, and a cold shower could be needed! |

I dunno about a cold shower, but have you checked the doseage on your meds lately? |

It must have been morning in the US when they decided on the colour: "Oh, what a beautiful amber sunrise, we should finish a bass in that colour! You know what, let's pick our new ATK series!" "Hey, we should release this model in Europe too. What's it like over there right now?" "Uh, almost midnight and very dark." "Oh. Doesn't really suit an amber-coloured bass huh?" "Nope." "You know what we'll do?..." And there you have it! |

I think we've come up with two perfectly plausible explanations! Anyone else want to take a stab? |

So does it stand to reason that whenever every other manufacturer is considering making left handed instruments they happen to be vacationing in the "Land of the Midnight Sun" at the time? |

I wondered about the color thing myself. One interesting theory came about at a gig, when one of my guitarists thought my ATK looked like an old Telecaster....it could be Ibanez was looking to cop a '52 Tele vibe.... |
