FYI, I bought my Yamaha BB1200S from these guys in person. They were very friendly, reasonable, and willing to negotiate the price.

I live practically around the corner from that guitar shop and never knew it was there! :o

However, I HAVE seen that bass a few times in at least one other shop in NYC over the past few years with an equally high price tag. It's so distinctive with it's cleanliness and leftiness that I'm assuming it has to be the same one anyway.

A shout out to my Brooklyn (lefty) brethren, Agent. :D Didn't know you were in Brooklyn. I'm in West Orange, NJ now, but I was born and raised in Brooklyn and lived there all my life up until buying our house in NJ in '03.

@Matt

Thanks for posting this. I missed the 71 P-Bass on Elderly by an hour last week and I didn't want to miss this one. I guess the timing was good for this one. Hope it is a good pick. I was suppose to go down in NY tomorrow to try it and exchange another bass but if I was buying it I would had to pay the NY taxes plus duty in Canada. So I took a chance. I'll let you know.

BTW I'll have couple of basses to sale here soon to pay for this one.

Yo!

[actually born in Queens, but don't tell anyone]

Keep forgetting to play the lotto. That would be the 2nd bass I purchase (right after andrew's EGC)

Haha

that's a drag.

I'd like to buy the bass (always wanted an early 70s p bass or tele), but the price is really too high if i add shipping in Europe and taxes, for that price i'll rather buy an older, right handed bass and playing it flipped

Howyadoin'???

I'm actually from Manhattan (born and raised local) and made the move to Williamsburg just over a year ago. It seemed I was spending all my time on the subway to get out here anyway....

Hey gang. Just to let you know that I received the bass tonight. It is in excellent shape except for the PU which is noisy and normal for a single coil. I'm looking at putting a Fralin split in it. To me the neck seemed liked it has been revernished in the past. may be the top nut is not the original either. i'll probably have it changed anyway because it is pretty low for me.

I looked at the neck butt and surprise for a '71..the stamp is 23 sep 68C. Another lefty oddity from Fender.

Thank you AzWhoFan. I had the bass check by my luthier and everything is original on the bass and it is in excellent shape. I'll see what I'll do for the PU. I'm not too sure if I'll keep the original or improve it. I know that Fender American deluxe bridge will fit on this 3 screws bridge which will be a big +. The bass smells old dust from years in the basement though, i need to clean it up badly ;-) LOL
