I like how there's no real explanation as to WHY it's an $800 pickguard... I guess the seller figures if it has to be explained to you then it's pretty unlikely that you'd buy it. lol

If a regular PG is about $40 for a $1200 MIA Jazz, does that mean that the accompanying 62 lefty jazz would run $24,000?

btw, I was expecting it to be solid gold and/or diamond encrusted... kind of a let down.

When I was in Iraq in '03 I saw one of Saddam's "treasures"....a horse pulled buggy made completely of solid gold...maybe, if they sold THAT on Ebay I'd buy it NOW for 800 USD.

Actually, depending on condition an real '62 lefty jazz would run you much more than that.

yeah, that fact crossed my mind after I wrote that, but I never edit my posts for content... besides doesn't that math then mean that the pickguard is a steal and someone should buy it immediately?

Take a look at their eBay store. All their prices are just ridiculous. I wonder if there are actually collectors stupid enough to buy anything from them.

If you're trying to restore a vintage guitar or bass they know they have you over a barrel. Where else are you going to find an original '62 lefty jazz pickguard? Their prices reflect that their market is the "gotta have it!" buyer.
