Ah, it's in New Jersey now. I almost bought that bass in 1985 at Ray Henning's in Austin, they wanted $2000 then. It didn't have a case then and was VERY heavy. I didn't really have a need for it, I had a couple 6-string basses and a few Gibson basses so I passed. I was pretty cool tho.

Wow, that is amazing!
Is the 6 string neck 30" scale? It must be, so this is an EB-6/EB-3 combination.
Wow!

I love how they put the knobs on both sides of the body; equally in the way for players of both persuasions!

Price drop to $5500 or best offer.

What do you think would constitute a "reasonable" best offer for this?

Truthfully, IF the listing is accurate and it's as rare and original as it's supposed to be, then their asking price seems reasonable to me. I suspect they're looking to clear $5000.00 on it. I think I'd shoot them a $4200-4500 offer with the intent of receiving a counter-offer closer to $5000 and take it from there.

BTW, I knew something about that bass headstock logo bothered me, since the inlay lettering looks thicker than the guitar side, and now it appears they put a further description up indicating that the bass portion was completed in 1970 not 1963. I have to wonder what's under that black finish. Could someone have been dumb enough to butcher/marry two separate cherry finished instruments together?
