I've got one. Not a bad bass at all. Slightly beefier, warmer, hollower J tones than a stock J with a bit less brightness/crispness, though string choice might change that. Reminiscent of a J meets Dano in sound I guess. Heavy as hell though. (10+lbs).

Hmmm, I 'm not sure but isn't that what Y&T bassist Phil Kennemore is playing in their new video that came out this week? I know Phil's main basses are vintage Jazz basses that he's played pretty much forever. Jazzes are all I'd ever seen him playing (except for a Peavey Foundation once) until I saw this video....

The one Spec they don't mention is the weight, and I recall recently looking at one on eBay that listed the weight as 11 lbs. Didn't think plastic was that heavy, but obviously it has some heft to it...

My Hamer 12 weighs 12 lbs., it's not a problem for me.

Weighed mine on the bathroom scale last night: 10.5lbs

I doesn't feel terrible strapped on with a wide strap though, IMO.

Yep, that's the same one I have, a Galveston. I didn't know lucite could vary in weight the way wood could.

True, the Dan Armstrong bass (made through Ampeg) has been around since the 60's, and Ampeg has reissued them, BUT there are only a handful of lefties made of either the originals or reissues. In fact, I believe there were even less lefty reissues made than the originals. A fellow forum member here sold me his Dan Armstrong RI about a year ago, and it is believed that there are only 2 lefty RIs in existence to date. I actually spoke to Kent Armstrong about acquiring a replacement PUP for mine, and he gave me the scoop. He said there were only about 8 lefties made in total of the originals, with McCartney being one of the owners of one.

Can't say I've seen a lefty original, or ever seen a picture of McCartney playing one though.

To be honest, other than the rareness and collectability of my Armstrong, I have to say that the Galveston is a better, more versatile instrument. :roll:
