Yep, pre-lawsuit headstock, so would be between 80-82. I'm guessing '81. That serial number is wrong, however. Should start with a "B". Too bad about the condition, but it further proves just how rare and difficult it is to find old lefty G&Ls because people rarely part with them. P.S. Loving my L2000 Tribute lately. Major bang for the buck. |

The serial on the neckplate does appear to start with a B: Then again, G&L have always been notoriously unreliable with their serial numbers so dating them by serial number is almost impossible. The neckplates were mass-produced and when a bass or guitar was built, they just randomly picked neckplates from a big pile |

Your eyes are better than mine. Even the seller can't read that serial number right. Should be: B011693 not 811693. And if it's on the neck plate only then it's no earlier than an '83/84. |

wow too bad about the crack in the body. Would be a good gamble to grab it up cheap, but booo on the $70 shipping.. |

Under the "more services" link, it shows shipping $36, if you don't mind waiting 7 to 10 days for delivery. I wonder if the bass was played in a punk-style band, or someone just tried their hand at relic-ing. Who knew that screwing a 1/4" sheetmetal screw into a hardwood without pre-drilling the wood would produce a small crevice? |

ahh ok $36 is a little more reasonable. What the hell, I'll throw a lowball bid in there just for the heck of it. Who knows... |
