Made in March 1980 during the only period I am aware of pre-Ernie Ball production runs of lefty basses. (Every lefty Stingray and Sabre bass I've seen is dated during a 2 week production run between end of February-mid-March). Surprisingly, I've seen way more lefty Sabres than Stingrays, so this one's super rare. I'm not sure about the case, but early MMs I've seen came with a hardshell plastic form fitted shaped case, so if anyone knows when they switched to a standard case I'd be curious. Not a terrible price either, though it has seen some heavy action over the years:

Watch out, the whole electronics were re-assembled from old parts and are not the original ones. I was several times in contact with the seller. He parted the electronics out to use it for a righty.Shar,e as this is a supercool Bass

In 1980, I was getting my first real bass, I wanted a Ric (McCartney, Wakeman, Geddy ect) however my bass teacher said Ric's are great but these new Music Man's were great basses and only $350 bucks when Ric's were $500. I got he Ric, still have it and love it for being a Ric but these 1980 Music Man's were always on the missed it by that much list.

I looked for one for ages, missed the sunburst one when it was sold 3 years ago, didn’t buy it from the banjo warehouse shop as he changed the electronics and thought I will never find one ….. and then last month

Yowza! :o That looks amazing. I've never seen one in vintage white before. Congrats on your find!
