Geez, I hope I have this right 'cause I don't think it's mentioned on the page. I think this is a Mockingbird. I can remember when these were considered to be a "high end" bass.

I noticed the nut looks like it was set up for a righty at one point, and the XLR jack looks to have been added later - you can see screw hole from the original jack. It's a beautiful bass though...

Back in 2000, before I knew anything about Ed Roman's reputation, I had my custom bass built through him (Ron Blake was the luthier Ed had at the time, and I think he's still with him - HE'S a nice guy...), and while it was being built, I was involved in a recording project. Ed sent me a loaner bass, and it was a BC Rich Mockingbird, same color as this one, and had a rotary switch on it that must have had something like 16 different positions around the dial for only God knows what - and BC of course! Had the same color pickups, but the switches on this one are different. After I received my bass in the mail, I sent the 'Bird back to Ed. It sounded great, but I found it hard to get used to the sharp edges.

This is a beautiful bass... would love to hear what it sounds like!

Nice looking bass, I dig the vintage BC Rich basses.

That's what's known as a short horn Mockingbird. They are rarer than the standard body design, though truthfully I prefer the standard look better. I saw this listing yesterday and it was originally listed as a '73 Mockingbird, which would have placed the date much earlier than when these were made.

Unfortunately, it's definitely been modified with an XLR output route, and given the already inflated asking price not a deal by any stretch, IMO.

didnt see that xlr out....that had to be an 80s mod...i would pay that price for the bass if it wasnt for that terrible and unexplainable modification

Has nobody noticed the cracks that appear to run down the length of the headstock?
