I'm not usually a fan of the Vader shape, but it looks better proportioned as a shortscale! I bet this would be a ton of fun to play, and ridiculously compact! I didn't know the Hipshot headpiece made it possible to use regular single-ball strings (let alone shortscale), but apparently it does! You can clamp the strings down with Allen bolts in the headpiece: |

Yep, this is also the same type clamping system used on Zon VB-4/Vinnys. I have both a bass and a guitar with this type of headless system and you can use basically any normal set of strings. |
