Hi All, reviving this thread as I bought the GC Tribute
So I’ve probably purchased more than 30 basses from the GC used gear site over the years, and of course there are always lemons that don’t even make it home (a thrashed MIJ jazz comes to mind), but this one blew me away. As usual, the GC pics did not do it justice. I read it came with a case, and expected a battered gear bag, but no, the previous owner had bought an actual G&L hard case! Wowzer!
I had one of these tributes back in the early 2000’s. I remember saving up for it, and the excitement of ordering it. It had the natural finish of course, as that was it back in the day for lefties. I traded it in, as it was really noisy and I didn’t know enough about how to fix ground issues/shielding issues basses back then. I always regretted it, so now I am stoked to have one back.
Only thing I noticed is the saddle lock screw on the bridge. It’s missing, and I think I know why. It’s effectively a righty bridge, so the screw doesn’t actually touch the E string saddle as it’s too far back (normally it would be pushing against the g string saddle). Either way it’s brilliant.
