Not familiar with the brand, so anyone with some knowledge please chime in. Definitely looks like a Bernie Rico era BC Rich knockoff to me, but pretty cool nonetheless https://reverb.com/item/37077617-lado-f ... rown-burst |

This one showed up awhile ago in the forum here: http://www.leftybassist.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10394&p=67163&hilit=lado#p67163 What I said about it.... Quote: Lado is a Canadian brand that was popular back in the late 70's and 80's. The guy behind it was Joe Kovacic. A Croatian immigrant to Canada. He started it in the small town of Uxbridge, ON about 70kms northeast of Toronto. Eventually moving closer to the city and relocating in Scarborough, ON (east end of Toronto). LOTS of big names in rock used them. The most famous bassist I can think of was Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. He had a couple of signature Lado designs back in the day. Eventually Joe moved up to my home town of Lindsay, ON - 150kms north east of Toronto - and started a luthier school. He still made instruments up until very recently. But I think he's retired now.
I lusted after a Lado when I was a kid. If I had the cash I'd buy this one for sure. They were very high end instruments. Everything was made by hand. |
