Cool, and unusual! All the MIJ ATK300L's I've ever seen were transparent black (which, up close and personal, looks more like a dark brown).

String alignment is pretty bad. May just be a matter of shifting the neck in the pocket though |

(I don't examine these things thoroughly unless I'm interested in buying, I just post 'em.  ). It looks a little better in the 2nd picture. It could also be the saddle angles, as the E doesn't look perpendicular to the bridge plate. Yes, I only learned this recently, and I've been setting my own basses up for decades. String saddles are supposed to be perpendicular to the bridge plate/bass body. You follow the neck profile as you normally would to set them accordingly, but if you're angling one side of a bridge saddle to do it, technically you're doing it wrong. I still do it "wrong" on certain basses that are too stubborn to give me the action I like.

On second glance, I wonder if this might be a refin. If it is, it's quite a daring one. There appears to be a deep dent on the top horn, that has been filled up with clear lacquer and then polished to match the surrounding finish. It is clearly visible in this picture:  And in this picture it's as if you're seeing right through that top bit of the upper horn:

I only see the orange tinted finished in MIKs and MIIs, not MIJs Log or Carmine might be able to confirm that. Cheers, |

All lefty MIK's I've seen in Europe were also Trans Black, but a darker shade that you were barely able to see through. All MIK's I've seen for sale in the US were in the orangey Amber finish.
