Haven't seen anyone do a Vintage/Relic finish on a Hofner before. I don't have anything against relic finishes personally. I have a couple, one I put tougher myself. Well done they can be vey convincing and give the feel of a vintage instrument that can be gigged without the worry. I know that some people aren't into it and I get that too. This one uses an approach I haven't seen before. Looks to be a crackled varnished technique of some sort applied over a brand new bass. IMHO the result isn't very convincing especially the headstock. Seems to need another aging process added, to complete the effect. Just thought it was interesting and worth posting.

 It's one thing to try and mimic a Shellac-crackle look... but this just looks like someone who used paint stripper, in a bad way... Way over-done....

Yeah, that’s pretty heinous. Could that have actually come from Hofner? It looks more like a lousy home job. And for that price? Yikes...
