AMEN to all above....!!!!

I thought I heard Nino was still part time working for Roger but if so, he did do the final setups and learned everything from Roger. That alone is worth a dime.

If you have to loot, buy this Sadowsky. Best thing is I think you get a 5 day trial period. It used to be 48 hours but more now. All in all, you only lose the shipping cost to and from. Too bad there were not enough interests in the Metro Version. Half price and pretty much same quality. Kinda like a Spector made in USA vs' EURO made in Czech Republic. The EURO is half the price and quality is superb!!! I have 4 of them....

GAS RULES!!!!

I'm a bit put off by Sadowsky's claim that there was no interest in the Metro basses in lefty. They did nothing to let people know they were considering offering them, and then closed the order date before the announced deadline. I think it was just so they could say "yeah we tried to offer lefty Metros, but there wasn't enough interest". I'm pretty confident I did more to let people know lefty metro basses were in consideration than Sadowsky ever did. That shows the level of interest they had in making these basses happen.

NYC = $$$
Lefty Bass Players = No $$$
Thats why Roger's decision was to not make lefty basses in the Metro Line (I suppose). I'll ask him in Jan at the Winter NAMM Convention. Supply and demand. We are 2%.... Not worth the trouble. There are other great luthiers and companies that STILL offer and make a fine lefty bass. To mention a few I own or have owned... Roscoe, Lakland, Mike Lull and of course Spector. They ALL know how to make a great left handed instrument. Too bad thee was not a builder out there that ONLY made lefty instruments... Might be a hard business to keep running but would be nice for the community. :ugeek:

Well, "now" being the key word. . . you know me.

But I've been playing a nice '96 P-Bass, CAR color, oozes mojo and tone (I also have a 2008 strung with flats, but stays at home). I played the '96 most of the year and recorded my band's new CD with it, and a few months ago I found on eBay a mint Carvin B5 with the HB/J pickup configuration. Big surprise with this bass. It sounds great, not spectacular, but the dimension are just what I like, the neck is just perfect for my hands, and the bass weighs around 8.5 lbs. . . and it cost me $400 used! Ridiculous. That bass is "worth" at least $1000 when compared to other popular basses.

Anyhow, I'm considering ordering a Lull P5. I'm hovering more (again) around 5-strings, and I'd love to have a 5-string P-Bass. Another Carvin could be in the future, too.

Those new vintage style Carvin basses look intriguing. Have you checked those out yet?

Then why go through the lackluster offer they did at all?

just got back from rogers shop today - tried out the will and the lefty in stock = both great basses but i have to say that i am not a fan of the mid switch on the will lee but that is for sure a personal preference...
i will say that the standard and vintage basses in his showroom were stellar instruments with piano like clarity and alot of useful tonal variety for a working groove player - i am on the cusp of ordering one up....probably...which means there may be a few more basses in my heard being thinned....
a 78 P and a modulus Q5 possibly....
i really dig rogers take on the jazz - i AB'd it with a Pensa Sur a few hours later at rudy's (after a great walk from Brooklyn to 48th street - time for new boots...) IMO there was only a similarity in finish quality...the sadowsky smoked...and it was incredibly light and comfy - great for those 4/5 casuals....
good time to start looking for a loan.......

I attempted this for about six months, but finally needed to get back to paying for my tool purchases. Even as a builder who puts forth a real focus on providing lefty basses, I'm lucky if 10% of my orders are for leftys ... and it's a bit discouraging at times.

I know that not having an inexpensive Chineese made budget line makes my offerings unavailable to some, but I simply refuse to go that route for many ethical purposes.

all the best,

R
